Nathan N.

Hey John here's a review for the hunt! Next time I come let me know what Louisiana food I can bring you up in a cooler!

Boars Nest Hunt is a fantastic business and John knows how to run his operation. There are plenty of options regarding stand locations for either firearms or bow. The furthest feeder is 80 yards so taking little ones on their first hunt would be no problem.

Pig activity is solid. Tons of signs, rooting at most stands we saw. My cousin and I were there for two nights. I managed to take two hogs and a coyote. One young one and another 110 pound sow hog.

I wasn't there to predator hunt but scouting around showed tons of promising areas. Thick tree lines and brush surrounding fields. Most fields have 250 yard+ visibility. Bring a spotlight and a fox pro and you will be in plenty of predators. Lots of small game for yotes and cats to have at. Sitting in a blind I was constantly hearing howls and coyote activity all around us at the ranch. I might book a weekend to hunt just for predators. Although you can hunt predators and hogs if you wish.

There is also plenty of water for all wildlife. Bring a pole so you can throw a line in during the middle of the day.

All feeders had lights. The lights are designed and made by John, and a low grade scope would be able to easily pick up anything under the feeder and several yards out. All feeders had plenty of corn, and john will tell you when the feeders will go off (stands have 2-3 feeding a a night).

One of my biggest concerns was over hunting and hogs feeling pressured. However, this was quickly gone from my mind when hogs were hitting feeders an hour before dark on the first feeding.

The shooting range goes out to 300 yards. I'm a trained long range shooter and any range longer than 100 yards is always fun to see.

John is a great guy and knows how to put the customer first. Communication prior to arrival was quick and precisely to the point. He gave us a tour of the ranch and told us everything we needed to know.

The cabin has a kitchen, AC, plenty of beds, and a large area for cleaning and stringing up game.

For the price you really can't beat this type of hunt and service. I see myself hunting here for many years to come. If you're a first time hunter this would be a great place or if you're seasoned I'd highly suggest this ranch.
